At PrimeTime Education, we strongly believe that the idea of a children's book can -- and, should -- constantly change.

We see our children’s genre as a “book and journal haven” where outstanding writers and artists can explore and develop new directions for children’s books.

We welcome authors from diverse contexts to this abode.

The work we publish is integrated by the company's spirit, albeit the types of books we publish are varied. We often try to publish works we like. Hence, we are extremely open to new ideas.

We receive a good number of manuscripts for children’s books, simply because most writers assume that anyone can write for children. This isn’t quite true -- what’s more, it is not easy to write a children’s book.

To cull one example: just telling your own child a story may not necessarily transform into a good children’s book.

We are not disappointing you; we are only making it sure that you have taken a serious look at your own work before sending it to us.

What we are looking for, and not looking for…

We are looking for work that is sound in conception and execution, and also child-centred, without being sentimental, “didactic,” or “pretty.”

Any subject that would rivet the attention of a child -- and, in any area of activity, or learning -- is welcome.

Please avoid being high-minded and moralistic in your books. This is something you should bear in mind when you send your submissions to us.

As far as artwork is concerned, we prefer atypical, original work to the standard colourful cartoon, or funny, characters.

We will also be happy to look at work that is experimental. We welcome humour, too.

What you should send

• A brief synopsis of the book you intend to write/publish
• A one-page résumé
• First three chapters of the book.

Once your proposal, in the above format, is accepted by us, we will revert in six weeks’ time to take your idea forward.
